MAC
email / news
facility
As many of you are now aware, sending news frequently & directly
to members via email became problematic to the point of being
impracticable.
To address this, we have been providing regularly
updated club news on this page on the club website and encouraging all
member to visit as frequently as possible.
We have now also introduced a 'Google Groups'
based email & web, free subscription service. All members should receive an
invitation to sign-up within the near future.

Virgin
London Marathon
Sunday 25th April 2010
MAC Have been allocated 3 Club Runner entries
These will be distributed by ballot before the evening run on Wednesday 9th December 2009.
To enter the ballot, a member must:
-
Have been a fully paid up first claim member of the club on 31st March 2009 and remain a fully paid up member until on or after race day.
-
Provide proof that he or she submitted an entry for the race through the official entry procedure and had that entry rejected by virtue of the London Marathon race entry ballot.
-
Not have received a club entry in the club ballot for the 2009 race.
Members successful in the Club ballot will be required to accept their entry forms personally
and
give an assurance that they understand the rules & deadlines pertaining to
the race entry requirements.
Please get your
VLM Ballot rejection slips
(proof of entry submission) to Gill Evans or Dave Dando by 6:30pm on the evening of
the club ballot.
Members meeting only the first two of these conditions should retain
their rejection slips, as there is a (very small) chance that not all 4 places
will be taken by members meeting all three.

Permit
Parking at Braywick
The car park
directly opposite our clubhouse, together with the two other car parks
adjacent to the Rugby Club are now designated 'Permit Parking Only' areas.
Permits are available at the club house for all paid-up MAC senior members and the parents of junior members.
Please see Sue Leigh, John Rickman or Dave Dando at any junior or senior
session meeting time.
The objective of this measure is to preserve as much parking space as possible for resident club members and force casual users to use the bigger main car park to the right of the park entrance.
However, as there will be more permits issued than permit only places available, a permit does not guarantee a parking place.
The WAMDSAD car park remains exclusively for the use of WAMDSAD members.
Enforcement, with fixed penalties for those not displaying permits has now begun.
Members
Services
& Notices
As
discussed at the AGM, the club want to encourage the
offering and recommending
of services between members. To assist this, we have provided a Members
Services binder to be kept in the bookcase in the club room. This can be used
to advertise things as diverse as massage, physiotherapy, household services,
holidays & accommodation and other sporting events.
As space on the club room notice boards is now at a premium and required specifically at this time for the Maidenhead Easter 10, all personal items, currently occupying notice board space will be removed from the notice board and placed into the binder.
The club room notice boards are now to be used only for those items genuinely serving the club's interest. All other items will be removed.
Please check out the Members Services binder regularly and particularly when looking for a service. Personal contact and recommendation are worth a lot when investing.
Clubhouse
Security
We have recently observed personal articles, (bags, clothing, etc.) left
unattended in the main clubhouse area.
Whilst the club can never guarantee the safety of such items, it must be
acknowledged that a chance thief would find it considerably easier to 'nip in'
and steal an item from the club room than to go through a closed door into the
changing rooms.
We ask therefore that bags and clothing be left only in
the changing rooms and not in the main club room of office.
There have also
been several instances of park
users wandering into to the clubhouse to use the toilets.
This must be
discouraged, as our toilets are part of our changing areas, where
at any time, there could be juniors and / or personal possessions. We
have agreed with the Bodyzone Gym, that we will ensure that the public
toilets (on the Astroturf side of the building) will be opened whenever
they or we are open and closed at other times, particularly overnight.
There is a key to the public toilets in the key safe next to the large
storeroom door. We also need to ensure that the clubhouse is locked and
made secure when we leave. Garry Jeffries will provide a key for copying
to any paid-up members needing access, and Garry has also put up a
notice containing 'Last Person to Leave' instructions. All members are
asked to familiarise themselves with these.
It has also become apparent that members without keys can be inadvertently
locked-in! To address this, a main door key has been left behind the picture in
the office. This should only be used in an emergency and returned to its place
immediately after use.

Update
Following even more hard graft by Mick Fursedon & his apprentice
(son Jim), a cooker, and plasma flat screen television have now been
installed. A telephone, and improved signage are next on the
agenda.
Athlete
Affiliation
The Athlete Affiliation requirement, introduced by England
Athletics in 2007, potentially affects ALL our members. For more
information please download our
Questions and Answers
document.
Affiliation for year 1/4/2009-31/3/2010 is now complete. Those members
who have requested affiliation should receive their cards soon. In the
meantime, URNs (affiliation numbers) are available from MAC Membership
Secretary, John Rickman.
We are finding that more and more road race online & paper entry
forms are insisting on an affiliation number being specified in order to
attract the associated discount and recognition of club membership. All
members who regularly enter UKA licensed races should now consider this
option.
